2007 Stinger Rules

If you currently drive full time in another class other than Stinger, or have driven full time in the past two years in another class, you are not allowed to race in this class.

As of 4-13-2007 we no longer allow 6 cylinder engines in the stinger class. This was decided by the drivers of the stinger class more so than the Staff of BMS.

Bodies & Frames

1. Any make or model front wheel drive 4-cylinder
2. May run all-wheel-drive/4-wheel-drive cars if rear drive shaft is removed. NO EXCEPTIONS. Car must pull with front wheels only. This will be checked before the race begins.
3. May be 2 or 4 door, hatch back, sedan, station wagon, etc.
4. NO TURBO OR SUPERCHARGED CARS ALLOWED.
5. No NOS or other performance enhancing deices allowed.
6. All glass must be removed. Including lights.
7. All burnable upholstery must be removed, except driver’s seat (may run racing seat).
8. Must have stock dash.
9. All exterior chrome and molding or anything that can come off the car must e removed.
10. Battery may be moved to a more secure location. If in driver compartment, then must be in marine type box.
11. Belts for the engine accessories may be removed, but the parts must remain. Example, if car had A/C P/S or Smog pump, the parts must be on engine, may remove belt only.
12. Remove the insulation under the hood.
13. Must have 20” number on each side and 20” number on roof of car for scoring.

Safety

1. Must have fire extinguisher.
2. Must have window net on driver’s side.
3. All cars must have a minimum of a single rollover bar with braces forward and backward.
4. Must use 4 or 5 point safety harness.
5. May use a racing seat.
6. Gas tank may be replaced with a fuel cell, but must remain “centered” in the trunk area, no offset to either side.
7. Any unsafe cages will Not be allowed on Race Track. This will be checked before the race.
8. If gas tank is behind rear axle, then you must install a “U” shaped bar between rear bumper and tank.

Suspension

1. All springs/struts must be stock height, size, and rate. May lean Tire 1 inch.
2. OEM type passenger car shocks only. No air shocks. No racing shocks.
3. All steering must remain stock.
Tires and Wheels
1. Must be factory wheels, any more than 215 X 15 Tire size.
2. No mud tires, street tread only.
3. Tires do not have to match each other in size or brand. Street treads only.
4. Cannot run other than stock offset on wheels and cannot run wider than stock wheels.

Transmission & Driveline

1. Automatic or Manual
2. Gears must be for year, make, and model of car used
3. Transmission must be for year, make, and model of car used.
4. If car came from the factory with an automatic transmission, you must use an automatic transmission. If it came with a manual, then you must use a manual.

Engines

1. Engine must be a 4-cylinder for year, make, and model of car used. Cannot interchange engines.
2. If it came with a carb, then you must have a factory carb. No modifications allowed.
3. If fuel injected, then must be fuel injected.
4. Carb must be for year, make, and model of car used.
5. Cannot change any internal or external engine parts other than factory stock or factory replacement parts. No turbo or superchargers allowed!!!
6. NO V6 engines allowed
